Impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney
WHEREAS we believe in fair treatment of all detainees and prisoners, yet the trust of the entire international community in the U.S.A.’s leadership on behalf of the rule of law has been severely damaged by the Bush administration’s reckless disregard for the Geneva Conventions by allowing torture of detainees; and
WHEREAS we rightly expect honesty in our government, yet there have been publicly-documented instances of our government officials lying; and
WHEREAS the trust of the American people has been broken by President Bush violating the Constitution in authorizing the illegal domestic surveillance of citizens; and
WHEREAS the trust of the American people has also been broken by Vice President Cheney’s office’s alleged illegal disclosure of Valerie Plame’s identity;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that our elected representatives support any and all possible actions to bring about the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney immediately.
