Feb. Meeting Resolutions

We've had a flurry of resolutions recently, presented to the membership for adoption at our monthly meetings. At the our February meeting, we adopted two resolutions, one supporting ferry worker unions, and one calling for the repeal or amendment of the 3-strikes law.

Another resolution, taking strong opposition to the installation in Bellingham of so-called Red-light Cameras was turned down by the membership 24 to 16. We note that the Whatcom Republicans adopted a very similar resolution earlier in the month.

Our bylaws allow for a resolution be passed by a simple majority of members present and voting, at a subsequent meeting after the first reading. At the February meeting we approved for the March agenda consideration of two competing resolutions calling for a new, fully independent investigation of the attacks on September 11, 2001, and of their aftermath and response by the U.S. Text of these two resolutions can be found HERE and HERE and copies at our office.
