U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has decided to prepare four different environmental impact statements that will assess the effect of stepped-up patrols, surveillance, cargo scanning, enhanced communications and other activities in four different regions along the 5,500-mile Northern Border that separates the U.S. from Canada.

WTA to hold hearing on service cuts

Whatcom Transportation Authority will hold a hearing on the latest plan for bus service cuts, a plan that would eliminate all Sunday service starting this fall. The agency will hold a hearing at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, in Whatcom County Council Chambers, 311 Grand Ave.

It's that time of year again when the sun sparkles off the beauty of Bellingham Bay, and the lovely varicolored fireworks, cans, bottles and other assorted trash are just begging for a new home. This year we're collaborating on three clean-up sites. Come to meet new friends, look for cool plastic stuff, and have a great time!
