List Etiquette

Please feel free to:

  • ask a question.
  • give an answer.
  • politely express your opinion on a community or political issue.
  • announce an event.
  • report on an event.
  • make a proposal for action.
  • comment, with a web site link, on an article of great interest; please include a brief synopsis of the article and why you are pointing to it.
  • reply to other messages; please include enough of the previous message to give context, but "snip" any parts of the previous message that are unecessary to repeat.
  • sign your message with enough of your name to clearly identify yourself.

Please refrain from sending:

  • jokes.
  • replies meant for one person and not for the whole list.
  • replies that unnecessarily include the text of a previous message, particularly if it is long.
  • full text of a copyrighted article; a link with a brief synopsis is sufficient.
  • private campaign strategies and information.
  • rant about other parties and politicians - please be constructive with your crticisms.
  • messages that begin or continue flame wars (personal attacks).
  • messages in ALL CAPITALS, unless it is vital you demonstrate yelling.
  • messages with HTML (i.e. fancy signature lines, images, etc.)
